Building Trust and Confidence
Nicola first met this young person when he was just 6 years old and worked with him until he was 9 years old. They built a great bond over
car journeys, taking turns picking music and playing Mario Kart. Years later, when he was 13 and his placement was at risk of breaking down, Nicola stepped back in to offer support. What started as once- a-week respite soon became 2-3 times a week—especially during school holidays. He is now almost 16 and has never once turned down a session with Nicola.
Through consistency and trust, Nicola has helped this young person build confidence. She gently encouraged him to eat when he was anxious, helped him feel safe when he wanted to stay in the car, and supported him to start ordering his own food and using his Revolut card-huge milestones for a young person managing anxiety. She also supports sibling access visits, helping him maintain a strong bond with his brothers.
Nicola's calm, reliable presence has made a lasting impact on this young person's life. Her work is a brilliant example of how consistency, patience, and connection can help a young person thrive.
